UPDATE- TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH- SURGERY TONIGHT

Hello Family and Friends,

The docs have expedited Bob's skin graft surgery to tonight so that chemo may start ASAP. A patch of skin will be removed from his left thigh and grafted over the wound in his right groin. Now he'll have 2 "gimpy" legs for a few days.

Surgery is scheduled for about 9 p.m. or perhaps even later, but it WILL take place tonight according to the docs. It should last about one and a half hours or so. Compared to the last three surgeries, this one should be a breeze. At noon he was already complaining about not being being able to eat or drink anything, and that was when he thought surgery would be this afternoon. We just can't keep that guy happy! ;-)

Thanks to all our east coast relatives for your phone calls today. We'll be sure to pass them on to Bob tonight before he goes in.

Next update will be either late tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Thanks again to all!!

  1. Hi Freemen!
Guess who it is.. Amanda Papandrea. I am glad to hear you are doing better. I wish you the best with your surgery. I always think of the good times we had in softball. The year you coached me was your favorite... I am positive. :) I am not sure when you can have visitors. When you can, I would love to see you. I'll try to sneak you in the good stuff. I know cafeteria food gets old.

  3. Hi Coach Freeman! :) It's Brianna Ballestero, or Briane as you always called me...lol! Quiana informed me of what's going on, and I just wanted to tell you that your famous! And you have to get better so you can sign lots of autographs for all of your followers. If you haven't noticed, we all have great stories to tell, of how you have inspired us or have a special place in our hearts, so get better already! Personally, ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to make the high school team. When it came to Fontana, we were the best around and as we all know A.B. was the elite. So I can honestly say it meant so much to me to be able to play for you, and in return, grow and mature as a player. Thanks for all the great and positive coaching! All us girls from softball are pulling for ya! There's lots of people out there who haven't been shown how to throw a ball properly or lay a brick right-Get better big guy!
    Lots of love!
